It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if never given the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her debut and seven international trophies have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not come up short.

Whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because I feel like I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"A chance to play and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we believe we can do it."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship need to hear.

In recent days a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this championship is likely to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
