19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first trophy after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at 21 various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

He saved four early opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
