The second-hand marketplace Users Share Displeasure About Size Updates

Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.

The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.

Online Platforms Reaction

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.

The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Updates

Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Shopper Experiences

One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.

Necessary Adjustments

Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Marketplace Information

The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
